In May, 1908, I had to take a week's vacation, as I was very nervous and felt that I needed a change. While I was away I noticed a swelling on the right side of my neck, and when I returned I went to a doctor, who gave me a remedy to use. It did no good, however, so I went to a Christian Science practitioner, as I had been healed by this treatment of another trouble two years before; but I had only one treatment, as the practitioner was going away for three weeks. The swelling had moved from where it was as the result of that one treatment, but my faith was not what it should have been, so I turned again to materia medica.

A physician told me to use poultices, which I did for ten days; but the swelling was getting larger and of angry appearance, so the doctor said I had better take a complete rest and just wait and see what would follow. As I could not afford to take his advice, and my health was failing all the time, I went to the Christian Science practitioner again, this being the first of September. In two weeks the growth had burst, and it was very interesting to watch the changes as the Christian Science treatment began its work. The most remarkable thing to me was that I had no pain to speak of, and lost no sleep.

I am now in perfect health; my whole thought of life has been changed, for I realize that in God I live and move and have my being. Old things have passed away, every discordant condition I have had in the last two years has been quickly met, and I am glad to say I am now able to meet all my needs and help others. I know that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494). Just so far as we are willing to be absent from the flesh and "present with the Lord," do we rise above the ills which are all around us. I am very grateful to God, also to Mrs. Eddy, who has made it possible for us all to know this wonderful truth.
