Those
working along the lines of Christian Science, especially those who devote their entire time to the treatment of disease, frequently meet with a reluctance, on the part of those receiving help, to make a just return for services rendered.
The
beginner in Christian Science sometimes takes groping and uncertain footsteps in the direction of divine Love, and doubt may seem to envelop his consciousness.
Christian Science goes to the root of human misery and gives a demonstrable solution for every problem that is opposed to health and happiness; It declares that the belief of mortals in material life and substance and the consequent limitations are responsible for the fear, the strife, and the hardships of the human race; but it lifts humanity out of these conditions by giving a better view-point of existence in which Spirit is recognized to be the only creator, in accord with Scriptural teaching.
In the Record of the 6th I read an article about the sufferings of the morphine users in being unable to get the drug, and also the trials of one endeavoring to break the fetters of the habit.
Every new invention, discovery, or reform meets with the opposition of the world, and therefore the students of Christian Science are neither disturbed nor surprised that this Science, which is transforming their lives, should likewise meet with the opposition of those who do not understand either its aim or its methods.
A misstatement in mathematics may seem to express reality so long as one believes it to be true, but as soon as its falsity is discovered it is at once seen to state what never had any existence and what is wholly unreal.
If
any warrant for the healing of sickness as a natural and inevitable part of Christianity were needed, it is easily found in the words and works of Christ Jesus,—in his reiterated instructions to his disciples to heal the sick, in his own demonstrations of the power of God to heal all manner of diseases which constituted his answer to John's inquiry if he was indeed the promised Messiah, and in his parting instructions to the disciples at Bethany.
The
nature and potentialities of Soul are a matter of vital interest to students of Christian Science, as well may be the case when we recall the words of Christ Jesus, "What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
The
frequent references of the Old Testament Scriptures to peace as a supreme possession and ordained of God, are imperfectly understood so long as we think of it as meaning simply rest and ease, however good and desirable these may seem.
For many months I have longed to express to the field at large my heartfelt gratitude for the multifarious blessings that have come to me as evidence of the power and efficacy of divine Love, hoping that my experience in the destroying of various phases of error, by Truth,—as taught by our honored Leader, Mrs.

Shortly after I became interested in Christian Science, some eight or nine years ago, our little son was obliged to remain out of school for a couple of weeks on account of a condition which caused him trouble in his stomach and head.
Over a year ago a trouble which I had felt off and on for some time became so serious that I consulted a physician, who said it was an affection of the nerves in my right arm and shoulder.
