THE LECTURES

Bliss Knapp lectured on Christian Science at East St. Louis, Ill., Tuesday evening, May 9, before a large and attentive audience. Alvin J. Mote, first reader, introduced the speaker as follows:—

Christian Scientists do not proselyte, but depend entirely upon the merits of their religion and its utility, it power, its effectiveness at all times and in all places, as demonstrated in their daily lives, to win it recognition. We welcome warmly, however, those seeking to know more of this truth, and gladly extend a helping hand to those who desire to investigate our teachings. Knowing as we do that knowledge means growth and that true knowledge consists only of the knowledge of God and His ideas, we are ever seeking by means of these lectures, our reading-rooms, and through our literature to disseminate the real facts about Christian Science and to correct any false reports or impressions that may be prevalent regarding our religion. Christian Scientists believe they have a message for you, and one that should command your earnest attention.
