I feel it a duty as well as a great privilege to tell others what Christian Science has done for me. I came to it for physical healing, although I find that this is but a small part compared with the understanding it gives us of God, and enabling us to know that we live, move, and have our being in Him. From early childhood I was subject to a catarrhal affection. I had tried different doctors and taken different kinds of medicine, but nothing seemed to do me any permanent good. I would be relieved at times, but was never healed until I took up Christian Science.
My healing was slow, but I am grateful that it was so, because it awakened me from my apathy and necessitated a more prayerful study of the Bible and Science and Health. I was also healed of a very serious trouble with my foot; but through the understanding of God as revealed in Christian Science it was wonderfully met in ten days. I have had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday school, which has been a great help to me. The Lessons which are taught there can be made practical in our everyday life. Christian Science teaches us how to keep the commandments, spiritually as well as materially. Every commandment means much to us, because Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."
For the physical healing I am indeed very grateful, first to God, and then to Mrs. Eddy for revealing to us this saving truth which Jesus taught. If we practise this truth it will make us free, not only from physical ills, but from mental and moral ills as well.
