It is with love and gratitude that I give my testimony...
It is with love and gratitude that I give my testimony, hoping some other seeker for Truth may be benefited by it. As I look over the past two years and realize all the good that Christian Science has brought to me and mine, I feel I cannot be grateful enough to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, and that each thought should be one of love and thanksgiving.
When Christian Science found me I was about as far from God as mortals ever get. Physical suffering and other discord—mostly a cross disposition—were the manifestations of wrong thinking and false education. Medicine had seemed to relieve some of my physical ailments; but the unrest, the uncertainty, and my fear of disease, were hell indeed. During my last illness, I fully decided to investigate Christian Science at the first opportunity. A friend of long acquaintance came here on a visit, who had, I knew, been greatly benefited through Christian Science, both physically and mentally; so I called on her, telling her my desire to know something about it. I had many erroneous questions for her, to which she replied, "You will find it all explained in this book" (meaning "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"). I began to read the book, and had read only a few pages when my whole being was uplifted in praise to God. I ceased the use of all material remedies, although both of my children had a severe cough at the time. I clung to this teaching, and in three weeks was able to help myself when I had a burn on one hand. The cough soon passed into its native nothingness, and since then fevers, colds, measles, etc., have been overcome through Christian Science.
Even with my slight understanding of Truth. I have been able to meet many of these ailments without the aid of a practitioner. A very severe case of eye trouble with my little girl was relieved in one absent treatment by a practitioner who has lovingly assisted me in my efforts to advance, and I begin to realize that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494). Not only for physical benefits am I grateful, but for the spiritual uplifting that has come to my consciousness and the manifestations of it in my home life,—for the knowing that God is my source of supply, and for the spiritual blessings that have come to my husband.—Mrs. Carrie M. Henry, Monroe, La.
