In May, 1908, I came here from Fort Wayne, where I had to give up my work as a printer on account of tubercular disease. I was in such a weakened condition that I could scarcely walk a block, and could not lie down at all on account of the cough, so that I had to get what little sleep I had sitting up. A Christian Science practitioner then took me in charge for treatment, and within a week I was gaining in flesh and eating everything I wished; my cough was less severe, and I could lie down and sleep soundly. In two weeks I went to work as operator on a linotype machine. My cough was entirely gone. I gained in flesh, until I now weigh more than I ever did before, and the fear of this disease has never bothered me since.
Another fine demonstration which was made for me was more recent. On Tuesday morning, after getting through my work at half-past two, I injured my ankle very severely. The pain was most excruciating, and I could scarcely get to my room. I could not sleep, so I got up; but could not put my foot to the floor. I then called for the practitioner to treat me; which she did, and I was able to go to sleep within an hour. I worked as usual the coming night, though with some difficulty, but continued to get better as the night wore on, and the next night I scarcely limped at all. The third day, when I arose at one o'clock, my foot and ankle were well. These two demonstrations I consider very remarkable.
