Having received so much help from the testimonies published...
Having received so much help from the testimonies published in the Sentinel and Journal, I desire to add mine. After more than forty years of wandering in the wilderness, I have escaped, and I have no desire to return to the land of Egypt. I was constantly serving "other gods," whom I knew not, and would not hearken nor incline my ear to the prophets. Although I strove with all the will-power I could exercise, and with the aid of eminent and kind physicians, I was condemned to an early death; but through the influence of a friend I was induced to ask help of a Christian Science practitioner. I wrote to one who could not take the case on account of his lecture engagements, and although somewhat discourages, I wrote to another and stated my case. At that time I could neither eat nor sleep. I was taking drugs every hour, but they had ceased to give me much relief. My physician had told me that I was liable to die at any moment, and that i had better prepare for this. I had had several physicians in different states where I had gone in search of help from climate, but all that the doctors could do was to give me temporary relief, with no encouragement as to a permanent cure.
The first letter from the practitioner at Pueblo, Col. (I was some sixty-five miles south of there), said that she would take the case, and declared that I was not beyond God's power to heal. She added these words from Science and Health (p. 388): "If mortals think that food disturbs the harmonious functions of mind and body, either the food or this thought must be dispensed with." I decided to give up the false belief, and surprised my family by sitting down at the table and eating a hearty supper. I retired at bedtime and slept the whole night, which was the first time in years. I awoke fresh and well, and resumed my work, as all can do who will accept the truth. Though I continued treatment for some two weeks, I was healed of stomach and heart trouble with the one treatment, and since then I have been healed of many minor ills by the constant study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and other works of Mrs. Eddy, also the Sentinel and Journal.
I am able by the authority of Truth, as revealed to us through the teachings of our revered Leader, to help others, for which I truly thank God, and His messenger to this age. My wife and I are members of The Mother Church and are striving to "grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Chrst;" and we receive constantly a share of the great blessings which are the portion of those who follow our beloved Leader.
