"LECTURES TO BE DELIVERED"
Ever since the organization of the board of lectureship, it has been the custom to publish in the Sentinel a list of the lectures which have been delivered by the members of this board. Apart, however, from the fact that the publication of this list has been gratifying to the churches under whose auspices the lectures had been delivered, it must be conceded that not enough good has been accomplished in this way to justify the further use of our columns for such a purpose, and we now propose to devote the same amount of space to advance notices of lectures.
This does not mean that we shall discontinue the publication of extracts from the remarks of those who introduce the lecturers, but only that the information which has heretofore heretofore been given under the caption "Lectures in Other Places" will be omitted, and in its place will be substituted a list of "Lectures to be Delivered." The completeness and resultant usefulness of this list will depend largely upon the cooperation, in this new departure, of the branch churches and societies. We therefore ask that, as soon as arrangements for a lecture have been definitely made, the necessary particulars be mailed, or better, telegraphed, to the Editorial Department at this office.
One reason for making this change is that the notice of a forthcoming lecture will thus reach the large number of our readers, many of them extensive travelers, who eagerly avail themselves of the privilege of listening to our lecturers whenever an opportunity presents itself; and while we are fully aware that some lectures may not be arranged for long enough in advance to secure mention in our columns, we shall do all we can to make the list complete and accurate. Like all weekly papers, the Sentinel goes to press several days before the date of issue, and for this reason the notice of a lecture must reach this office not later than Monday of the week in which it is desired that it shall appear.
