Christian Scientists claim with entire good faith that Christian Science is wholly founded upon the Bible and the teachings of Christ. What Mrs. Eddy claims in this connection, as stated in "Retrospection and Introspection," page 24, is as follows: "I discovered the Science of divine metaphysical healing which I afterward named Christian Science." She discovered the modus operandi, the process by means of which healing is effected. We contend that it is simply the application of the faith and of the spiritual understanding that enabled Jesus and the prophets before him to heal.

Christian Science has developed far beyond the experimental stage; its success is measured by the honest assurance of thousands of those who have come up out of bondage, from sorrow, suffering, and despair, after having exhausted all other remedial agencies, into the calm sunshine and heavenly peace and contentment that come with the clear and well established. recognition of the fact that the redemptive Principle is available now as of old through the medium of righteous prayer.
