Science is organized knowledge

Monmouth (Ill.) Review

Science is organized knowledge. Christian Science is organized knowledge concerning Christ. That it is truth will be discovered not by comparing its teachings with man-made creeds and dogmas of theological councils, but by comparing them with the teachings of Jesus the Christ, who is certainly the best authority concerning what is or is not Christian. Jesus commanded his twelve disciples "to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick." He commanded the seventy to "heal the sick," and to say, "The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you." These commandments are Christ's, therefore Christian; and Christian Scientists are endeavoring to carry them into effect.

Science is true knowledge. There can be no truth in knowledge of anything unlike God, for God made all, and certainly all that God made is good, not evil. It cannot be unscientific, therefore, using the word in its ultimate sense, to believe that sin, disease, and death are not real in the sense that they are not eternal. Christ Jesus healed sin and disease and overcame death. To him, therefore, these things were not real and eternal. Christian Scientists are following as best they may, the teachings of Jesus, and if they heal sin and disease (as our critic admits), and hope some time to overcome death, as Jesus promised those who believed on him would do are they not scientific, using that word not as physical scientists do, but as it should be used when dealing with things pertaining to the spiritual realm?
