The measure of the fulfilment of Bible teachings, as manifested...

Lincoln (Neb.) News

The measure of the fulfilment of Bible teachings, as manifested in the daily experience of its devotees, furnishes the best proof of the efficiency of any denominational belief as a practical religion.

Christ Jesus recognized the proper standard when he said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." Christian Scientists are always willing to be tested by this standard. The ultimate success attained in the development of Christian character must be determined in that way; and we naturally point to the fruitage of Christian Science practice as the best proof of the efficacy of its teachings. The teaching and practice of Christian Science is based exclusively on the Scriptures, the teaching of Christ. Nothing else enters into it. It requires of its adherents the most conscientious observance of the Golden Rule and the Sermon on the Mount as evidence of Christian character.

The Christian Science prayer is the prayer of understanding and not of blind faith; it is the prayer that realizes that God's work was done at the beginning, and was perfectly done. The Christian Scientist recognizes God as the only creator, Life, power, and Principle, and His creation as spiritual and eternal, even as He is Spirit and because of this the only reality. We believe that the command of Christ to his followers, "to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick," applies to all time; even as the command, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, ... Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you ; and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world," applies to all time.
