I wish to express my appreciation of what has been given...

I wish to express my appreciation of what has been given me in Christian Science, and my love and gratitude for our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I became interested in Science about four years ago, not so much for the purpose of learning more about God as for the purpose of criticizing. Whenever I heard of cures made by Christian Science I had a feeling of dislike, but I soon learned that this was all within myself and that it was not because Science is not good. At the time I became interested I was trying to seek happiness in a life of material pleasure. I was a slave to liquor and tobacco to the extent that I thought I needed them all the time. The combination of these, with many other old beliefs, gave me a very bad disposition, from which I suffered a great deal. I was absolutely cured of the appetite for drink and tobacco, without ever since having the least desire for either, and by reading Science and Health and getting treatment I have been relieved of sickness.

I feel more love for all mankind, and this has come through a better understanding of God and His manifestations. Christian Science has given me unlimited help in a business way. It has helped me to comprehend and accomplish things which I could not have done before. Where I used to fear everything that confronted me, now I feel that I may rely upon the divine protection and guidance. Christian Science has given me an insight into the Bible which I never had before. I have a great deal to be thankful for, and I want so to live that I may be a good example to others who need help. I am very grateful to our Leader for the knowledge of Christian Science which has brought so much light into my life.
