It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude and love to God, to our blessed Master, Christ Jesus, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that I attempt to express something of the joy, peace, and many other blessings which I have received since "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" was brought to my notice by a friend. From the time I began to go to school I had the thought of weakness and sickness to combat constantly, and I came to be regarded as not strong like other girls. While very desirous to attain much in the way of education, I would repeatedly be obliged to stay out of school on account of illness, and finally had to give up when in my senior year. I have seen what were my fondest hopes frustrated by this sense of ill health, as well as by the incorrect point of view as to what is real, and what is therefore really desirable.

During my first reading of our text-book, Science and Health, I was healed of a chronic bowel disorder of nine years' standing, after having been treated by several physicians and one eminent specialist. Each one of these good men did all he could for me, I truly believe, and the treatment of most of them seemed to help me for a short time, but I was obliged to diet, be careful, and take medicine most of the time. Now I eat everything that I like which is set before me, knowing that "not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."
