Christian Science has done so much for me, it seems...
Christian Science has done so much for me, it seems that I could not tell it all. At the time when this truth was brought to me I was in despair, all hope gone. I had prayed to God until I felt that if there was a God He had forgotten me. I was suffering from a catarrhal trouble, which was supposed to be hereditary; but, thanks be to Christian Science, I can say with Paul, "The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." Everything that could be done by physicians was done, including serious operations at different times. I was constantly using medicine, and the thought occurred to me very often, Will I always have to take medicine? It seemed as if there was no other way, but the time came when even medicine was of no avail. My throat had become so affected that swallowing was extremely painful, and my tongue was in a dreadful condition. I was even obliged to sit up in order to sleep, but I had no desire to go to a doctor, for I had lost all faith in them.
When Christian Science was brought to my notice, I said I would try it. The Bible, which I used to read more from a sense of duty than for love of it, because I did not understand it, I now read with joy and gladness, for its pages are illumined by Truth and Love. I thank God for Christian Science, as it has given me a God who is Love, and "perfect love casteth out fear."
