In our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), we read: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Four years ago a great need was met when Christian Science came into our home; and words cannot express my gratitude for what it has done for my mother and myself. My mother had suffered for six years from extreme nervous trouble. Our home was broken up, and she was sent from one sanitarium to another, continually growing worse, until, after spending two years under the care of a noted nerve specialist, we were told that nothing could be done for her. We made a home and brought her to it; but wrong thoughts, which had grown to seem real to her, brought wrong physical conditions, which the doctors pronounced incurable, and the mental condition was even more distressing.

A friend, whose mother had been healed of rheumatism, suggested Christian Science to us, and as it was the one way that offered us hope, we were eager to try it. Mother at first refused to have it; then she gave a half-hearted consent. The practitioner met her opposition with patience and love, until it was replaced by an earnest desire for the truth. After several months' treatment she was examined by a physician, as one of the members of the family desires this, and was found to be physically normal. And we who had been with her knew what beautiful healing had come to her mental condition. When she realized that she was no longer a slave to that which for so many years had held her in bondage, she expressed only thoughts of peace. Those ignorant of Christian Science did not appreciate what had been done for her, because she passed away. But I could only rejoice, knowing, as I did, that errors had been corrected which would have continued to seem real to her until corrected, as they were, by Christian Science, the law of Truth; and she knew that she was growing, through Christian Science, into a clearer understanding of God, whom to know aright is life eternal. After reading Science and Health for a month I was healed of an eye difficulty for which I had worn glasses ten years. During the past four years Christian Science has been my only medicine; has met my every need; and I am satisfied that it is a speedy, effectual remedy, as well as a preventive of disease and disaster. I am very grateful for the spiritual sense of God and His creation which Christian Science is bringing to me; for the understanding that evil is unreal and impersonal, and for the purification which this truth causes in consciousness. I am grateful to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the example she is giving us of man governed by God, and for her wonderful discovery, Christian Science, which reveals the truth about God and man and the reign of righteousness on earth.
