Jesus said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." I have proved these words true. Young womanhood found me a delicate, frail girl, battling with the world to add a little to the home and support of the family, which had always had one dreadful disease after another hanging over it, like a dark cloud, until this had marred all that was fair in life and left us poor indeed, physically and financially; but my efforts to help were not crowned with success. Twice I was stricken with disease: the first time I lay from August until November and required constant care, and for many days there was no hope of my recovery; but I finally began to improve, and by February I was able to resume my work. In October my health again began to fail, and I came home in March. The physicians said I could not live two months longer, as I had serious lung trouble, and that there was no help for me in materia medica.

My dear parents had been told before this of Christian Science, but they had not listened. Now, however, when my case was plainly stated, they at once turned to Christian Science, and after a consultation they asked me if I would take the treatment. I replied that I would do so if they wished it. I felt that if I were strong and well I could be of use to them, but if I always had to be sick and a burden I would rather pass away; but I was willing to do whatever they wished. So it was decided that I was to take Christian Science treatment. I was not then able to sit up much of the time and suffered from fainting spells and some very alarming symptoms. I shall never forget the joy that filled me when I received my first treatment. I think I was healed in that hour, but it took me several weeks to realize it. In three days I was able to walk a mile for treatment, and improved rapidly in every way. In two years' time I was a strong, healthy, happy girl, having all the necessaries of life and a few luxuries. It is now fifteen years since I was healed, and I have continued strong and well and prosperous.

For all these blessings I am very grateful to God,—grateful to Him for giving to this age Mary Baker G. Eddy, and I am grateful to her for her labor of love,—for her book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." This book has helped me to understand and prove the truth of the Scripture, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Health, happiness, and prosperity have been added unto me through Christian Science.
