It is with a deep sense of gratitude to Christian Science for the wonderful healing that has come to me in the past year, after a life of pain (in almost forty years I cannot remember an hour's freedom from suffering), that I send my testimony for publication. I have known Christian Science in my personal experience for about a year and a half. Before that time I had been very ill for nearly ten years, and all who knew me were looking for my death at any time. Having tried every material means which I thought would help me, I finally decided to try Christian Science treatment, in response to the advice of a friend who had been healed. I was suffering from disease of the bowels, liver, kidney, and heart trouble, besides a dropsical condition, etc. All of these have gradually been healed, and for this I am very grateful, as I never expected to be well. These ailments had produced nervous trouble in its worst form, with a desire for death in order to get away from the load of suffering from which I could then see no escape, but this also has been met by the truth and vanquished. Added to all the rest, were three malignant growths, which likewise have vanished before the light of Christian Science. The fear of death, which was always present before in my thought, has left me. I have done all my own housework for nearly a year, because I felt perfectly able to do it.

Words cannot express my love and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, for most surely I should not be alive and well to-day were it not for what she has done for me in making the Christ-healing again possible. The understanding of our Father and His Son Christ Jesus, and of the Bible, which is growing clearer every day,—an understanding which has come to me from the study of Science and Health, "Miscellaneous Writings," and the Lesson-Sermons,—is as wonderful as the healing. Instead of a far-off God who could not heal the sick except, presumably, by "taking them home," I have found a God near at hand, who never made evil and knows it not, and has only good for His children. May this testimony help some one who is sick and suffering to turn to the only help there is,—to God and His Christ,—for this heals our bodies and blots out our transgressions through Christian Science.
