It is now about a year since the Christian Scientists came to hire the hall where I am caretaker. I did not know anything about Christian Science, and thought the Scientists to be people who held very strange views on religion. One Sunday morning, as a lady was talking with me at the door, she quoted these words from Scripture, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." For many years I had been a church member, and I thought I was perfectly free, but from that time on I began to think that if there was any more freedom to be found, I should like to know where it was; so the next Sunday I attended the meeting. Ever since that time I have been deeply interested in Christian Science and its literature, and through reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I found myself healed of neuralgic trouble, from which I had suffered for many years. Besides this, I had a great uplifting in thought, which gave me new hope, new joy, and a greater desire to love the Christ whom I had so long professed to serve. During my reading I was greatly helped to the consciousness of the ever-presence and allness of God, which showed me that the "prayer of faith" would heal the sick. One night my little granddaughter had an attack of throat trouble, and as I prayed for her these words of the Master came very sweetly to me, words that through Christian Science I had learned were true: "I knew that thou hearest me always." With that sweet consciousness I went to bed, and in the morning the child was well, and has continued to be so up to the present time.

I have obtained the freedom which Christ Jesus promised, because I have learned in Christian Science that as man is made in the image and likeness of God, he should reflect or bring out that likeness. The expression of Truth, Life, and Love, in thought, word, and deed, is Science. I have learned that the only true light in which we can see perfect God and perfect man is the truth of being. I saw that while I looked through the lens of mortal or carnal mind I retained the belief in sin, disease, and death, but when I came to view man and God through the Christmind, or Science, I saw that I was "free from the law of sin and death." that none of these things had a right to rule me or have dominion over me, as man is God's child and is free.
