For the countless blessings of Christian Science I would...

For the countless blessings of Christian Science I would like to give a public expression of thanks. I have been given absolute proofs of its power to heal both physically and spiritually. To know God aright is something well worth striving for, and this is what we do in Christian Science. One of the greatest helps offered to us in our study and demonstration of Christian Science has been given in the Lesson-Sermons. That this impersonal sermon, as given from our pulpits, brings healing in its message has been proved to me.

I started to the service one Sunday morning, almost beside myself with pain and suffering from an abscess in the ear. At one time I had been forced to submit to an operation on both ears for this same trouble. At this time of which I speak, I had been working faithfully according to my understanding of the rules of Christian Science, but had seemingly met with no results from my work. The Lesson for the day was, "Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?" As I listened to the reading of that sermon, I saw, as never before, what this "suppositional warfare between truth and error" (Science and Health, p. 288) means. I saw, as never before the unreality of all error. I also saw why I had not had satisfactory results from my work, — I had been fighting as if the disease were a real thing, an entity. Then I saw it for what it was — a non-entity, unreality; and in that instant I was healed — absolutely healed! When I left the church, or hall, I was perfectly well, not even a trace of soreness left, and I have never had any such trouble since.

In another way I have found the Lessons of great value. Not long since a friend said to me, "What is the Christian Science idea of Jesus?" The answer was at hand: "Here is our Lesson on Christ Jesus; take it, and read it, and you will soon see what the Christian Science idea of Jesus is." I feel I cannot say enough to express my thanks to the committee for these Lessons, and above all to our dearly loved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, whose far-seeing wisdom gave us these impersonal sermons.
