BOSTON'S RELIGIOUS PAPERS—CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SENTINEL
Boston Post
[This is the sixth in the series of special articles in the Post devoted to the topic of the great religious journals which have done so much to create and maintain Boston's proud supremacy in the literary world. In their great and influential field, the religious journals of Boston have few equals and no superiors in all the world. Other articles in this series will appear in the Daily Post on successive Mondays. — Editor Boston Post.]
The Christian Science Sentinel, the official weekly organ of the Christian Science Church, is a Boston publication and is written and published in this city under the auspices of The Christian Science Publishing Society. The writers of this paper are leading men and women in the denomination who are acquainted with the inside facts of the Church, and it is their endeavor to place these facts in writing for the followers of this religion. Their efforts thus far have met with the universal approval of the readers, both in this and other countries.
The Sentinel is a weekly publication which explains the various phases of the work done in the denomination, and gives the news in a manner which makes it welcome in the homes of its readers, who number well into the thousands, each week. It is now completing its tenth year, and in these years of conscientious work of those connected with the publication it has built up a circulation that stands second to none of the papers adhering strictly to religious literature. Aside from the religious news that it publishes each week, the management has wisely deemed it important to give mention to items of public interest, and although these articles are condensed, they are so written as to give the reader all the essential facts in connection with the subject concerned. Since the institution of the Sentinel it has been the policy of its editors to refrain from criticisms of other papers and individuals, and any comment it necessarily makes on other religions or subjects is made with kindliest feeling.
