Words fail to express my gratitude for Christian Science...
Words fail to express my gratitude for Christian Science. I was attracted to it through the healing of my mother of asthmatic trouble. Her healing was very wonderful to us, as we had no faith when she began the treatment that it could do her any good; but as her healing went on we were anxious to understand what was making such a change, and accordingly we began to study "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. The lady with whom I had talked on the subject said I could prove the truth of this Science for myself by applying the understanding I gained from the study of the book. This appealed to me, and I made my first attempt at a time when I seemed to have burned my hand very badly. With the thought of the injury immediately came the remembrance of the "scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468). I repeated the first part of it, which was all I could remember at the time, and the proof of its correctness was instantaneous. I could only stand and look at my hand in silent wonder—there was not a trace of what had seemed to the senses to be a severe burn. This occurred about thirteen years ago, and since then I have had many proofs of this healing power of Truth, in my family of five. Our children have been healed of many ailments and we have found it true that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494).
For all the blessings I have received I am truly grateful to God, and every day I appreciate more and more what we owe to Mrs. Eddy for her love for mankind and her courage to stand in giving Christian Science to the world.
