Christian Science was first brought to my notice about...
Christian Science was first brought to my notice about twelve years ago by my brother and his wife, who came to visit me and related some of the healings through Christian Science in their own family among their friends. It soon was clear to me that this was the truth for which I had been waiting for many years, and at last my faith was to be rewarded. Many times I had mentally declared that I should yet see people healed as in Jesus' time, without material remedies. I began at once to feast on the precious truths as revealed in the Bible through the light which came to me from reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
I feel impelled to contribute this testimony to our Sentinel from a great sense of gratitude and love for what Christian Science means to me, and not alone to me but to other members of my family. Many physical ailments have been met and overcome by Truth, for which I am more grateful than mere words can express, but that which brings most joy to me is the great spiritual blessing which has come to me and is still coming. This blessed truth has sustained in seeming sorrow, also when temptations seemed to come in like a flood. Mrs. Eddy's hymn, "Christ My Refuge" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 396), has proved such a comfort and cheer. I am truly grateful for what I know of Christian Science, and I praise God that our beloved Leader was called to give this message of hope and health to a sinsick, troubled humanity.
Mrs. E. Tarrissa Philpott, Bremerton, Wash.
