It is with deepest gratitude that I testify to the great...
It is with deepest gratitude that I testify to the great benefits I have received from Christian Science. Two and a half years ago I first heard of it in a casual way, and was not at all interested at that time, but a fortnight later I experienced for myself something of its healing power. I had suffered eight years from a severe internal trouble, for which I had consulted six medical men. Eventually I had to go to a specialist, who adverse an operation. This I underwent, with some slight improvement; only, however, to have the old torture return with renewed force, and to undergo another operation. After the second, I was never free from pain for nearly seven years; and then was told my only hope of release was by having another and more serious operation, which it was very doubtful if I would survive. I was considering seriously the question whether to submit to it or no, when there was shown to me the glorious truth that God does not send sickness and suffering to His children, and that my healing was dependent only upon my acceptance of this truth. I had one treatment in Christian Science, and was relieved of my suffering, being helped at the same time in an eye trouble which I had had fourteen years. The right eye was totally blind, and, I could see very little with the other, which was failing rapidly. When I found that I could see a gleam of light with the right eye, I was overjoyed, and asked for further treatment for my sight. In a very short time I could see clearly and I have never needed to put on my spectacles since. I then had treatment for the internal trouble. The pain left me entirely in a few hours ; within a month the growth had disappeared, and I was able to walk miles without any discomfort, whereas before I could not take a ten-minute walk without fainting, and suffered for days after.
For my physical healing, and for the spiritual perception of Truth and Love, I do earnestly thank God. I am also very grateful to Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, who has shown us the way out of darkest night into the glorious light of liberty and freedom from the bondage of pain. I am hoping and striving to gain a greater understanding of the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
