From the time I was fourteen years of age I suffered...

From the time I was fourteen years of age I suffered from severe catarrhal troubles in my head, nose, and throat. I tried many specialists in my home city, and took regular treatments of them for a number of years. Receiving no benefit from these treatments, which caused me keen suffering. I discontinued them, for I preferred the disease to the remedy. I tried different climates, living in the tropics for more than a year, and during that time I was treated by other specialists. Gradually my sense of hearing became affected; consequently I became very sensitive and refused to meet strangers. Finally I was freed from the catarrhal trouble, but my hearing grew worse. I returned to my home, and then went East to try the cold winter climate ; nothing, however, seemed to help me. Then, as a last resort, my father requested me to try Christian Science. He was not interested in it at that time, but had heard of the marvelous cures brought about by this healing religion. I called upon a practitioner, who advised me to read Science and Health every day and to attend the meetings. This advice I followed. At the church services I sat in the front seat near the Readers, but could not always hear all that was said. At this time I was also suffering from an internal trouble, to which however, I gave no special attention, but took regular treatments for my deafness. In three months my hearing was restored to me, and the other trouble was healed also. I could then hear so distinctly that I was compelled to request people to speak lower, telling them my; ears were so sensitive that I could not stand loud talking.

My healing occurred three years ago and I have had no return of the trouble. I have studied Mrs. Eddy's books, Science and Health and "Miscellaneous Writings." constantly, receiving thereby a wonderful spiritual uplift, and learning man's true relation to God. Although I had been a church member, I could not accept the creed, and was greatly dissatisfied. I longed for something better although I knew not what. To say that I am thankful for what this new-old religion has done for me is expressing it mindly. I shall never cease to give thanks to God for revealing this blessed truth to the one who has given it so freely to the world.—Edith Husted, Boston, Mass.
