AN OVERFLOWING HEART
That God gives man a grateful heart I now know. I have always been as thankful for Christian Science as I knew how to be, but the spiritual sense of gratitude seemed lacking, and the sense of love did not overflow so as to satisfy. Recently, however, the false testimony was reversed, and I exclaimed, "I thank God!" Error seemed to ask, "For what? A purse without a cent in it; a boy without work; a sick child?" To this I replied, "I am grateful to God for some understanding of Life. Truth, and Love; of peace, plenty,—yes, for everything, for there is but one source of supply; and I do love Christian Science and its Discoverer as never before."
With this declaration my thought was so changed that the whole experience changed. Plenty of work came to the son; the daughter soon reported herself well and happy; my own needs were met. Best of all, some one came to me for help in Christian Science. I turned to God, divine Principle, for wisdom in what to think, and this thought came to me so beautifully, "Rejoice!" Then I saw the nothingness of the claim of error, and the patient was relieved at once. I recognize this as a proof of the gratitude which is of God.
This thought came to me recently, that the new Publishing House was first to be built in Mind, and that it is an individual work; all must publish the glad tidings, and as they receive, give! So I am very glad to send this little demonstration to the Sentinel. It may seem a small one, but to me it means much. Over and over I thank God for it, and try to remember and acknowledge from whence my gratitude comes. Certainly it is not as "the world giveth."
