MRS. EDDY'S CHARITABLE FUND

Concord (N. H.) Evening Monitor

The following statement in regard to the Charitable Fund of one million dollars established by Mrs. Mary Baker G. Eddy, the Founder of the Christian Science Church, has been issued by Alfred Farlow of the Publication Committee:—

"There seems to be an impression that contributions to the Fund are desired. This is a mistake. Since the announcement of Mrs. Eddy's enterprise she has been in receipt of many letter of appreciation from all parts of the world, commending her efforts. Many of these letters are accompanied by checks to aid the Fund. It should be well understood that Mrs. Eddy has set aside the whole amount necessary for this Fund, namely, one million dollars, and donations from others have not been asked for, nor are any expected. While Mrs. Eddy appreciates the commendations of her friends, and the substantial evidence of their approval, nevertheless it will not be necessary for others to aid in this matter. Really, her friends can aid her most by refraining from unnecessary letters on the subject, thus leaving her time to work out the details; and this is what she desires."
