Although I had been a faithful worker in an orthodox...
Although I had been a faithful worker in an orthodox church for some fifteen years, I felt I was not getting that for which I longed. I began to read Mrs. Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," over five years ago, for the purpose of finding something to satisfy this desire for spiritual food, and since then I have not only been satisfied in this respect, but many ailments in the way of disease, accidents, and other maladies in my family have been overcome. A badly injured finger, caused by being jammed in a door, was wholly restored to its normal condition after one treatment from a practitioner. The little child, who is only three years of age, never complained of pain, but used the finger even before the bandage was removed. There was then no scar where the finger had been severed, and a new nail had taken the place of the old one. Our eleven-year-old son overcame the sense of pain and soreness caused by an injury to his throat, by reading Science and Health. Three cases of stomach trouble were each totally overcome after one treatment. One was that of our little son, who was taken suddenly ill. A practitioner was called, and after a half hour's treatment the child was perfectly restored. An older son came home from school one day in great pain, which rendered him almost helpless. He asked me to telephone to a practitioner for help, which I did; and an hour later he was out in the yard perfectly free from the unpleasant manifestations. In my own case there was stomach and bowel trouble of several years standing and in their worst forms. These ailments were, however, entirely overcome after reading Science and Health and other works by Mrs. Eddy. I had no special treatment, but I grew into the realization of the perfect action which expresses Truth. Through the realization of the truth as taught in Christian Science our children were greatly relieved during an attack of cough, etc. There are many other demonstrations which have been made through knowing that God is All-in-all,—that there is but one Minds,—that He is good and governs at all times. Christian Science gives us positive proof of the power of Truth in the seeming presence of error.
