Six years ago I came into Christian Science through the healing of a daughter who had for years been troubled with constipation, from which she has been entirely freed through Christian Science. She was very happy over the physical healing, but it was not to be compared with the spiritual uplifting which the understanding of Christian Science has brought to her. She frequently talked to me about it, and it all seemed very beautiful but having been brought up in an orthodox faith, I did not think it right for her to leave the church in which she had been confirmed; but I am now thankful to say that I was not long in coming out of that thought, for soon after, another daughter was taken down with typhoid fever. As there was no practitioner in our town, I called in our family physician, and followed his directions, but instead of growing better she became worse, and by Tuesday my husband said there must be something else done for her. The next day she had her first Christian Science treatment about one O'clock, and in the evening she walked all around and could use her arm, which had been very stiff, as well as ever. The next day she wanted to go to school; and the following day she did go, entirely healed of the disease. We thought it wonderful.

Soon after this I was invited to visit the Christian Science church, which I did, and will never forget the happy faces I saw that day. It seemed when I went into the church that I was going into a different atmosphere, and I know now it was the atmosphere of Love. I then sent for "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and began to study it. I could not at first understand it, but I never got discouraged, for I knew it was the truth that Jesus taught and that some day I would understand it, and it is being unfolded to me every time I read the book. Through the understanding of this blessed truth we have been able to overcome many ills,—such as sore throat, rheumatism, erysipelas,—and a very bad abscess has been destroyed. I have been greatly helped for heart trouble, what seemed to me the greatest demonstration of all was the overcoming of the thought of poverty. I have learned to take no thought for the morrow. My husband has overcome the liquor habit without being treated for it, simply through living in atmosphere of Christian Science.

For all these blessings I am grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for having brought to us this truth, and above all I am grateful to God, for "every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights," —Mrs. Tillie Waker, Glen Carbon, Ill.
