I visited the World's Fair in Chicago, in July, 1893, carrying a burden of health-destroying, man-made laws. In September I was advised to try Christian Science, and being tired of a five-years down-hill road in materia medica, I willingly did so, and was healed in a few weeks. I returned to the Fair in October a changed woman; Christian Science had made me whole, and given me the ability to walk all day and enjoy that great White City with its beautiful treasures. When the old fears of cold or over-exertion would try to make themselves real, in those huge, cold buildings, I would use the "scientific statement of being" (Science and Health P. 468), and with my slight understanding that God's law is the only law, and His power the only power, all the effects of old beliefs would vanish.

How thankful I am for that experience. I had first seen and felt the healing power of Christian Science, as demonstrated by my practitioner; now I was making the truth mine. Nothing ours in Science until we prove it, and in those days of proving was the firm foundation laid on which my faith was built. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" is the golden key given the world by that loving, patient woman, Mrs. Eddy,—a key which unlocks the Bible to the Christian, the Jew, and the atheist. For twelve years the daily study of that book has shown me the way to know God and that He is an ever-present help.
