It is now over a year since I heard of Christian Science and came to it for help in a chronic nervous trouble which doctors had failed to cure. I received treatment from a practitioner for about ten days and obtained immediate relief. During the time which has followed, I have only twice had slight attacks of the old trouble, and these have been speedily and effectually met by the power of God as taught in Christian Science. My first treatment rid me of two ailments which I had not thought of mentioning to the practitioner. I could not read without glasses, and even with them my eyes pained me very much, but the day after the first treatment I read without them and have never had the least pain since. I still have a sense of short-sightedness to overcome, but it is yielding gradually to the knowledge that the only true senses are the senses of Spirit. I was also able during my first week in Christian Science to throw away an elastic anklet, without which I could not walk very far, as my instep would give way. I have never required one since. The truth seemed so clear to me at first that I felt as if it were impossible to be ill again; but I now see that every discord overcome is a step forward, and the mental work which it necessitates is the narrow gateway into fresh pastures that divine Love has provided for us. My mother and sister have also reaped many benefits from their study of Science and Health.
