It is now almost two years since I began to study Christian Science, and manifold are the blessings which I have received, both physically and spiritually. In November, 1903, I was running downstairs, when suddenly my knee gave way and I fell and had to be assisted to bed. I experienced great pain, but I struggled on for a few days, when, finding that it was getting worse, I called in a physician. He informed me that I must wear an elastic kneecap and later he put the leg in splints, saying that I had torn the ligaments. This necessitated my staying in bed for about five weeks, with no sign of improvement, the doctor stating that on no account must I put my foot to the floor.

While in this state of mortal wretchedness I wrote to a relative who is a Christian Scientist, and the answer of love and hope was as light shining in darkness, but still I kept on with the medical treatment. At last, getting despondent, I expressed the desire to have other advice, and my husband suggested Christian Science, as he had seen its effects in the home of the relatives before mentioned. I consented, and the same day that I discarded medical advice I was helped out of bed and took a twenty-six mile journey to Manchester, where I could receive Christian Science treatment. My husband telegraphed and treatment was begun before I started. for it was with much difficulty and assistance that I was able to walk at all. Now came the testing of my faith, for the leg seemed to swell to double the normal size and pain was most severe, but in about ten days I was home again, without pain and able to do a good share of the housework. and three weeks later I was able to do all my own work, including all necessary kneeling, etc.

About this time I slipped, and the other knee was injured in the same manner as the first; but knowing a little of Christian Science. I held to the truth, wrote for treatment, and the injure soon disappeared. I can now say that I am perfectly healed and have been for some months.
