I was ill more or less for a period of sixteen years. Part of the time I was confined to the bed, but I did what I could, working a little while and then lying down to rest. Three of the physicians who attended me said that I had injured my spine by a fall. I suffered very much with pain in my head and back, for which blisters and irritating lotions were used. I also suffered from several other very serious ailments. I could not walk half a mile without great suffering, and work that required constant use of the arms had to be avoided. Seven doctors treated me during the sixteen years, and we paid hundreds of dollars for their services, but with no encouraging results. The time for several months was divided between the couch and hammock through the day. while the weary nights were relieved by the use of an opiate.
It was here that Christian Science found me,—sick, discouraged, and tired of living,—and it came as balm to the weary soul. By its gentle ministrations I found rest and peace. A friend who had witnessed some of the healing, asked me to give it a trial, and after careful consideration I sent for a practitioner. My healing was rather slow, but I began to improve at once, and at the end of seven months I walked to the meetings and returned,—a distance of nearly two miles.—and suffered no inconvenience from so doing. After that, I walked wherever I liked, and have done so ever since.
My treatment begin in August, 1889. and my health since then has been better than ever before. I realize a peace and rest that I never experienced before I gained a knowledge of this truth. I thank God for the healing and for the blessings that have come to me through Science and
