It is difficult for me to find words to express my gratitude...
It is difficult for me to find words to express my gratitude for the benefit I have received from Christian Science. I was healed of a severe attack of lung trouble, also of abdominal trouble. I have been interested in Christian Science since 1899. Up to that time I hardly knew what it was to feel well; my children were always complaining and a doctor had to be called very often. Since I first accepted this truth neither my children nor myself have ever resorted to material remedies. We have always found in Christian Science the perfect remedy.
On the 7th of December, 1904, I received word that my son, eighteen years of age, had been thrown from a rapidly moving electric car and was seriously hurt. In falling from the car he struck some rocks, and was badly injured. He was carried into a drug store, and when I reached his side he was unconscious. After he had been brought home, two physicians who had helped to bring him there examined him and said that he was very seriously hurt internally. I thanked them for their kindness in helping to bring my son home, but told them that I was a Christian Scientist and would not need their services further. I then telephoned for a practitioner, who remained with us several hours, and left my son more quiet, although appearances were very alarming for several days.
My family were much alarmed and some of them insisted upon my sending for a doctor, but I told them that my son was in the hands of the great Physician, and that He could and would heal him. My brother said the doctors had pronounced the case a most serious one, and that they thought an operation would be necessary. When they learned that I was a Scientist, they said they thought I took desperate chances.
