Jesus said, "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof"
Boston Times
Jesus said, "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." A great many worry needlessly because of their limited foresight. There are few who do not see at least one step which can be looked upon as absolutely right, and if that step is taken it is likely to lead to where the next proper move can be discerned, each successive step interpreting the next necessity or possibility. Looking across the prairie one can see just so far when the horizon cuts off the view. As one advances the horizon moves on, and one can see still farther. No individual will ever be able to see farther than he can now perceive, except in proportion as he advances beyond his present position.
Each individual will have grace sufficient to effectually overcome the evils which confront him at any given time, though if there be added to such difficulties an accumulation of errors which have not been scientifically disposed of in the past, as well as a contemplation of prospective future evils, the burden may be more than one can bear. So it behooves us to take care of each day's work as we reach it, and make our labors so conclusive that there will be no necessity of going back to take up unfinished work. It is also important that we should train ourselves to look carefully after the present and not worry about future details which are beyond present comprehension.
While we thus write, we are not unmindful that Christian Science, revealing the absolute allness of divine Mind and its manifestations, points to a final victory over all evil and the final and full triumph of truth. Therefore, abstractly the Christian Scientist sees his way through to the end and is certain that he will be guided by divine intelligence in each successive step. He notes that his advancement is in proportion to his goodness and spirituality. If his perception is dim, he is aware that a closer walk with God is the one thing needed, and he is not devoid of a definite course to pursue. He knows that Jesus' statement. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness: and all these things shall be added unto you," is absolutely true. If we are governed absolutely by divine intelligence, the details of the right course will be clearly defined to us.
