It is now about five years since Christian Science entered...
It is now about five years since Christian Science entered our home. The joy, peace, and other blessings that have come to us since accepting this truth are manifold. About two years ago I had a wonderful demonstration over an attack of appendicitis. I had felt a pain in my side all day, and declared the truth while attending to my household duties, but did not pay much attention to the ailment as I thought it would soon pass away. By evening the pain was so severe that I was hardly able to sit up, and during the night it grew much worse. Our practitioner was absent at the time, and then the struggle came,—the temptation to turn back to materia medica; but I saw at once that I would receive no help there, for I knew that my life and being are in God and that He is an ever-present help. I thought I would get up and read from our text-book, Science and Health, but I was unable to do so. I then tried to repeat the scientific statement of being, but found that the only thing I could think of was the Lord's Prayer. I repeated it several times and fell asleep at about six o'clock, and at seven o'clock I awoke free from pain, and was able to get up, attend to my work, and go to church.
All that I have and all that I am owe to Christian Science, and my heart is filled with love and gratitude to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has so patiently helped us to gain this understanding of divine Principle.
Mrs. F. M. Partridge, Cedar Rapids, Ia.
