Words cannot express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and my family. Eight years ago a loving husband was suddenly taken away, leaving me with three little children, the youngest only a month old. My home had been everything to me, and I had depended upon my husband in every way, so that the anxiety and responsibility of bringing up my children, and the sorrow over my loss soon made me a physical and mental wreck. I suffered in many ways, and was so weak that I could walk only a few blocks without exhaustion. Many days I could sit up only an hour at a time. All was darkness, sorrow, and pain. I was a church member, and kind friends in the church did all they could to console me, yet I could think of nothing but death as a release for me and my children.

I was in this condition when a friend spoke to me of Christian Science. How eagerly I drank in the words of Truth; and what a light came when I was told that God did not take my husband away, but that it is our ignorance of God which brings all our sorrow, sickness, and death. After having treatment for a short time, my burden of grief, anxiety, and fear rolled away, sorrow was turned into joy, and my health improved at once. My children, who before this were always ill and troublesome, began to have better health and to be more harmonious in every way. My own fears were replaced with trust and confidence in the ever-present protection of God.

Friends were surprised at the great change in me and my family, for where they had before always found us in sickness and trouble, now they saw us happy and well. I have gained about thirty pounds in weight, and for several years have done my own housework, and I have found time for Christian Science work as well. Truth is healing me and my children of sin,—much that we never knew before was sin, and it is a great joy to me to see the children working as they are taught in Science to overcome fear, impatience, self-will, and selfishness, trying each day to be more obedient and put on more of the Christ-likeness. They usually meet whatever troubles they have without my help, and they always work mentally a few minutes every day before going to school to know that they reflect the one intelligence now. Science is teaching us how to live and keep our thoughts right, and we need Truth every day to guide us in the right way. The Bible has become a new book to me, and I am daily proving that its promises are true, and that this word of Life does heal the sick. No medicine but the truth has been used in my family for six years, and it has healed us of all our diseases.
