The following excerpt is from the address of E. S. Morrow, Second Reader of First Church of Christ, Scientist, upon the occasion of the interdenominational service in connection with the dedication of St. John's M. E. Church, Davenport, Ia.

"All appreciate the loving thoughtfulness in being called together to-day in this beautiful edifice to worship the God who is Love and offer thanks with all others for this prayer in stone, 'whose builder and maker is God,' erected and dedicated to Him,—a most befitting monument of trust in the Giver of all Good.

"We behold its completion and rejoice with them in this wonderful result. It is another testimony proving the power of Christianity, which binds all in a closer bond of brotherly love, for it is the gift of God, and brings to mind the words of John the Revelator, speaking to the various churches: 'He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches: To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.' "
