Christian Science has proved to me that "the word of God is quick and powerful," for nothing but this word of Truth could have freed me from the material laws under whose bondage I had served for many years.
I first heard of Christian Science from a friend in Europe who knew that I was afflicted with several distressing ailments which the best specialists both in America and Europe had failed to relieve. I was at this time returning to my home in Boston, and I told my friend that, as I should never again try materia medica, I would perhaps look into Christian Science.
In proof that the good seed sown is not lost, but is sometimes seemingly slow to bring forth fruit, I did not seek the healing truth for eighteen months after my return, but when I once made up my mind to trust to Spirit instead of matter, I very quickly found my freedom from these discordant conditions to which I had been a slave so long. Besides this, I was completely and perfectly healed of far-sightedness, for which I had been treated by four eminent oculists, all of them agreeing that I must always wear glasses. I had suffered great pains in my eyes, scarcely ever knowing what it was to be unconscious of discomfort, in spite of having most faithfully worn the glasses for seven years. In a few weeks' treatment I was also freed from this condition of slavery, and in the six years that have gone by since then, I have been as unconscious of my eyes as when a child.
