The Lectures

A large and intelligent audience assembled at the Opera House, Sunday afternoon [December 20], to hear Judge Septimus J. Hanna's exposition of Christian Science.

The speaker was introduced by Hon. J. W. Taggart, judge of the Superior Court, who said in part,—

When the committee of this organization waited upon me with your request that I introduce the lecturer at this meeting, I hesitated before replying. Your committee anticipated the dilemma with which he thought I was confronted, and said, "Christian Science has reached that stage when it no longer needs an apology from any one who introduces one of its lecturers, whatever his station in life may be." So perfectly confident and assuring was his remark that I at once replied. "I shall be pleased to do so, and appreciate the honor bestowed upon me in making your selection."
