A recent statement of the mission of Christian Science by one of its authorized lecturers, is appropriate:—

"Coming to this age, which is in the travail of its fierce conflict over creed and philosophy, it comes, not to join in this conflict nor engage with acrimonious competition for your favor. Even though it be stoned and reviled, it reviles not again. Its whole service is to teach men the Science of God and man, to educate them in the holy art of loving, to wipe the bitter tears away, to comfort them that mourn, to heal the sick, and to turn the footsteps of the tired sinner out of the mire of tormenting evil. It cannot quarrel. It does not know how to hate or fight."
