Just four years ago I sought help from one of Mrs. Eddy's students, having been a sufferer of long standing, and I consider it the best move I ever made in my life, because it brought back my physical health, a peace of mind I never knew before, and enabled me since that time to solve every problem and difficulty that has come up in my business, as well as in my home life. When I first called upon this dear friend who has helped me so much, my hope and courage had about given out,—a stomach and bowel trouble of twelve years standing having worn me out, both mentally and physically. As a result of this siege of sickness, my heart acted very badly; the least physical exertion would bring on palpitation and great mental depression. At times I would have to hold my head to keep it from shaking, I was in such a nervous state. My writing became wretched, and I could hardly hold a pen, as my fingers would become so cramped. I was limited in my eating to a very few things.

These are only a few of the many things that made me wretched up to four years ago, and what I did not have I feared; in fact, I feared everything. I do not think it possible for a human being to have been in a worse condition that I was. My healing was not only a most beautiful one, but a remarkable one. All these troubles have vanished like a dream. To those who are not helped quickly, I would say, Do not become discouraged, but work all the harder to get a better understanding of Christian Science. While my condition was helped from the start, it was some time before I was perfectly healed. Sometimes old conditions would come back, but only to be dispersed again. I rejoice that my healing was not a quick one, because it only spurred me on more and more to learn about this Christ-truth, and now I am so interested in it that I would not give it up for anything. In my household we have had many beautiful healings; three children in the family have never tasted a drop of medicine.

In closing, I would like to mention that the second week I was treated in Christian Science I took off my glasses after having worn them for six years for a bad case of astigmatism. The New York specialist who examined my eyes said I would have to wear glasses all my life for astigmatism. Christian Science disproved this statement, as I have not worn them for four years. To say that I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for this truth, and to her student who stood by me so faithfully in this battle against error, is to put it very mildly.
