Six years ago this coming November I laid down my pill-box for the last time and took up the Bible and Science and Health. Six years ago I laid down my little gods that I had been hugging close, and found the only living and true God, and in finding Him, I also found peace, health, and greater happiness than I supposed could possibly be found on earth. Should I go into the details of what Christian Science has done for me, there would be no room left in these columns for other testimonies, but I wish to state briefly that I was healed of ulceration of the bowels of eight years duration, also of female trouble in its worst forms, from which I suffered everything, and when Christian Science found me I was at the point of death, in fact, my sister-in-law thought I was dying, and ran next door to bring the practitioner with all possible speed. I had always bitterly opposed my idea of what Christian Science was. The hardest of all for me to grasp and hold was the "scientific statement of being," and when, in time, my patient helper tried to convince me of the allness of Spirit and of the bondage of material beliefs. I stoutly declared I knew I did have a material body, and it suffered, too. Then she gently and kindly said. "Now you just hold on to that sense of the body until you find something better." I then saw what a frail reed I was holding to and I turned from it to the realization of the allness of God, and reaped the benefits of so doing.
From a sick, fearful, fretful woman, I have become strong, well, and happy, finding God a "very present help in trouble," for which I have to thank our dear Leader who has given us the key that unlocks the blessed Bible, wherein we find the "peace of God that passeth all understanding."
The Sentinel and Journal come to us very welcome guests, and we can but look back and wonder how we ever lived without them.—Mrs. J. G. Rayner, DeWitt, Ia.
