In 1900 I was sick with the grip, a stubborn cough, and other troubles. Medicine did not help me. Then my son came and told me of Christian Science. I said that I did not believe in it but that I would try it, and I let him treat me. I immediately began to improve and before long was entirely well.

Some time later I had throat trouble. I was very melancholy and took no interest in anything. I said that I could not understand English, could not read Science and Health, and I listened to people who spoke to me against Christian Science. A neighbor brought me medicine and urged me to take it, saying that there was no reason why I should not try both at the same time. I took the medicine and besides went to a doctor. I was going at a fast rate toward my grave. Then I gave up the physician and medicine, and waited a whole year. After that I turned to Truth with my whole heart and said that I would unconditionally surrender to divine Love and that I wanted to be healed through Truth.

In two months Christian Science healed me and I thank God and our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has brought the truth to us which has saved my life. The Bible is my comfort and Der Christian Science Herold is a great help to me, for I cannot read English.
