A Contagion of Good
From hand to hand the greeting flows.
From heart to heart the bright hope glows.
The religious propaganda which Jesus inaugurated and which has constituted so important a feature of Christian history, is earth's noblest enterprise, and it has been conducted, for the most part, by men and women who have shown a degree of heroism, self-sacrifice, and devotion which has made all mankind their debtors. In all the later centuries, however, these noble people have suffered a disadvantage for which their earnestness, their sincerity, and their abundant works have not been able to make amends, and in proving through the healing of the sick, that "the best sermon ever preached is Truth practised and the demonstration thereof" (Science and Health, p. 201), Christian Science is but supplying what missionary workers have lacked, and what, had they possessed it, would have greatly increased the beneficent results of their labors.
