Echo of the Communion
The flags of many nations lent their bright hues to the walls of Mechanics Hall, where the Christian Scientists from the East and the West, the North and the South, met as one brotherhood to worship in sacred silence the God of Israel,—the omnipresent Love who forgiveth all our iniquities and healeth all our diseases.
A mighty wave of holy thought and realization of Truth must have gone forth to lift the burdens and lighten the sorrows of the world, for we are one body, and "whatever blesses one blesses all" (Science and Health, p. 206). The sweet invitation from Mrs. Eddy was joyously received, and all reached in unbroken and peaceful harmony, the lovely capital of the old Granite State.
It seemed a miracle of order and arrangements to see this great crowd, so free, so happy, so childlike, sitting under the trees, or strolling under the sylvan arches of green, waiting for the hospitable gates of Pleasant View to open to that vast throng which entered without confusion or impatience. It was pleasant to mark the tender eagerness of all to see our beloved Leader, but all human elements seemed quieted under the influence of that sweet home of purity and peace.
