The Question of Library Supply
One year ago The Christian Science Publishing Society very wisely decided to discontinue supplying libraries with our periodicals free of charge after one year, and placed the responsibility of this work upon the Christian Scientists in the various localities where public libraries are to be found.
A plan of action was soon agreed upon and entered into jointly by the churches in Philadelphia. A committee was organized to represent the churches in this work, and a sum pledged by the churches to the amount of one dollar for each enrolled member per annum. This gave an assured income which has been supplemented by gifts of money and literature from individuals.
The plan has worked very nicely as the results accomplished show. Not only are our Journal and Sentinel supplied to libraries, but also complete sets of our Leader's works are placed upon the shelves.
