"Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord"
"Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord." To be a good witness for the Lord it is our duty to testify to Truth as it is revealed to us.
I have been a member of the Congregational Church for more than fifty years, and I have come to the conclusion that creeds amount to very little unless they hold church members together as seekers after Truth, and thus enable them to be a help to each other and to the world at large as they show forth the Christ spirit.
For several years I have been seeking for a better understanding of spiritual life, I have studied the Bible and read many books on that subject to get a better apprehension of God, and I must say that the reading of Science and Health has given me a better understanding of the Bible and the life work of Jesus than any other book I have read. I don't claim to be a Christian Scientist, but I do say that I have found much that I can endorse and that is helpful to a Christian life. As far as the healing power of Science is concerned, I have not studied with that particular thought in view. In the past, when I have read the testimonies given by some who claim to have been cured of certain diseases through reading Science and Health, I have thought it almost foolish to make such statements; but demonstrations of truth are convincing. It is now nearly two years since I commenced to read this book. Previous to that time I was often afflicted with severe headache and sciatic rheumatism for several days at a time. These have entirely left me, and I have for the last year enjoyed better health and accomplished more work than I have in any one year for ten years, and I have not suffered from being tired. Mortal mind may ascribe this to any one of many causes, but why not ascribe it to God and the means that has given me a better understanding of His word and my relations to Him, and so give Him the praise who is my life and my light.
