"Am I my Brother's Keeper?"

WE as Christian Scientists of to-day should realize the importance of this question more than any other class of religionists in the land.

Christian Science stands for perfection, and Christian Scientists are its representatives. Very many are ready to watch, examine, and criticise every act of the Christian Scientist, much as the crowds in an art gallery examine and criticise the paintings displayed for exhibition, and are quick to point the finger of scorn at any mistake or failure which may occur in its ranks.

While the love of God should be the only prompter needed, still, out of respect to the Cause represented and love for our Leader, we should be ever alert that the world may have no just cause to condemn Christian Science on account of the inconsistency or indiscretion of our lives. If to gratify some selfish desire we bring reproach upon the Cause, then may we well shrink in self-condemnation like Cain, and say, "Am I my brother's keeper?"
