For a number of years I was afflicted with what the doctors called an incurable disease,—a species of fits, also internal ulcers. I tried many physicians, but they could not heal me. One physician said he might help me, if I had an operation, so thought I would. In the mean time a friend called. I told her what I expected to do, and that I was preparing to have the operation, when she said, "Why don't you try Christian Science?" She was then just beginning to learn what it was, and gave me some information, also told me where I could go for treatment.
That same evening I consulted my husband about it. He said, "Try anything to get well" for he had become as discouraged with materia medica and its failures in my case, as I was.
I went to a practitioner, and she commenced treatment, and also talked with me on the subject of Christian Science. I found it to be just what I was searching for. After several treatments I began to improve rapidly, but one condition seemed to hang on for some time. It was destroyed later, after I had gone through a class. I am very thankful to Mrs. Eddy for showing us the way our of Egyptian darkness into "the glorious liberty of the children of God." Christian Science is the Comforter that we have with us always, and that Jesus said would come after he left. Besides my own healing, I know where Christian Science had healed tumors, nervous prostration, pneumonia, and other diseases. The healing is a proof that our heavenly Father is a present help, and Christian Science also teaches us the way to get wisdom, to get understanding, as Solomon advises. It also teaches us to search the Scriptures where we shall find eternal Life.
