It is with pleasure that I testify to the benefits I have received from Christian Science. For two years I was confined to my home unable to do any work, and during this time under the care of four of our most eminent physicians; the last seven months of this time with the leading physician who, at the expiration of this time, pronounced my case hopeless, saying he had done all that he could do for me. This physician called my disease paralysis of the throat and lungs. Others named it consumption. I was coughing incessantly, suffered great pain all the time, hemorrhages were frequent; had night sweats and insomnia, and lost my voice for eleven months, not being able to speak above a whisper at any time, and the pains in my throat were excruciating.

My family, friends, and acquaintances had given up all hope of my recovery and, to be candid, I had come to the conclusion that I should soon die. It is written that "man's extremity is God's opportunity," and so it would seem in my case.

At this time an old acquaintance from another city, came to visit me, and was horrified to see my condition, and went away to bring to me a prominent lady of our town, that she might tell me of the healing of her husband by Christian Science. I was persuaded to try it, and like a drowning man catching at straws, I went to a faithful practitioner, who was highly recommended to me. I was very weak, and unable to get to her office without a good deal of exertion and fatigue. I was then taking the most powerful medicines every two hours and stimulants between times, but when I commenced treatment I threw these all aside. Insomnia was immediately overcome, my cough gradually disappeared, and I had but two hemorrhages after I commenced treatment. It seemed to me I could feel my lungs fill up and grow strong and healthy, as I improved right along. My throat seemed stubborn, but each day I felt that my vioce was returning, until one day at dinner I spoke aloud in asking for bread. My wife and daughter were so startled that a fear seemed to seize me, and I could not do it again until my wife telephoned to my healer and told her what had happened. My wife was told that if I had spoken once I could do it again, and at all times, and there was no occasion to be fearful. She gave me a treatment and my voice has been ever since and is now as strong as any one's.
